He comes clean

Mark toyed with the idea of lying his way in but he kew he was too drunk to maintain that kind of charade for long. He held out his hands apologetically as he said, "No, no sorry I ahhh... live upstairs actually." looking back over his shoulder as he confirmed his mistake. "Had a few drinks tonight and tried to open the wrong door..." he added sheepishly.

The man grinned, nodding knowingly, "Ahhh my man... nice one. No worries... we're all drinking too. Shit happens." He trailed off slightly as his distracted gaze wandered back inside before his glazed eyes fell back on Mark and gave a little shrug. "Well we're just having a little get together... come in and have a drink if you like." he said, opening the door a little wider.

The sound of raised voices and music intensified as the smell of smoke wafted into Mark's nostrils and as he leaned into the doorway a little trying to peer in he realised this seemed like his kind of party. It wasn't too late and he had nowhere to be... why not get to know the neighbours a little better? He nodded to the man, "Ok, sure... thank you."

The man nodded happily, stepping out of the way and ushering Mark inside. As Mark stepped into the open space kitchen and living area he was instantly aware of how much fancier the place was. Everything looked new and immaculate despite the clutter of bottles and snacks, and the minimalist decor gave the whole place an element of class that his own apartment lacked. There were a several clusters of people, some milling about chatting, others seated around a table playing some kind of game and another group sitting around the televisio. His vague inspection of the scene was interrupted by the man at the door tapping him on the arm with a cold beer. "Here you go... welcome neighbour." with that he wandered off towards the bedrooms leaving Mark alone.
