It performs photogrammetry on images, and can export in a variety of 3D quality, including high-end textures. You can get USDZ, OBJ, STL, and PLY formats for a variety of use cases. All the processing happens on your Mac, with no need for cloud services or subscriptions.

An amazing app especially if you just want to buy it once.

I was looking for a 3D Scanner app which works and I would only need to pay for once. And this app delivers.

The results are to be expected, not 100% perfect. But I’d call it good enough to get started, and based on the results of the export pretty close to dimensionally accurate. (Scanned a battery and compared the results in another piece of software to the actual measurements).

For what I needed Sapling does an amazing job. If I could make a suggestion, I’d recommend adding a way to manual fix or make alterations to the model after it’s finished. Maybe with the Apple Pencil?Oh and a way for the app to work in landscape mode since I personally find it easier to hold.

But honestly these are suggestions as the app works well as it is now. I am just surprised that I couldn’t find it on the App Store, and only knew of it’s existence as a suggestion from Reddit.
